About the croft
Over the past few years, our 13-acre croft has been a place to raise piglets and children, as well as being home to generations of hens, a few ducks and Rosie, our beloved sow who sadly passed away last year.
With our children having grown up and flown the nest, we are taking the croft in a different direction. Having recently finished deer-fencing the whole croft, we are now in the exciting process of planting 8,000 trees before the Spring. These will provide shelter for our hens, and for our fruit and vegetable production, as well as creating new habitats for pollinators, birds and other wildlife.
In our Bùth Beag (little shop) we sell the eggs from our hens and a wee bit of seasonal produce from our garden and polytunnel.
We croft without chemicals, feeding the soil with poop from our hens and pony manure from our neighbours, as well as collecting seaweed from the nearby shore.

Coille Challtuinn
Our croft name is Coille Challtuinn which means hazel woodland.
We are lucky enough to have small areas of native hazel woodland.
This habitat is unique to the West Coast of Scotland and home to glove fungus, primroses and bluebells.
